Overview

Kedarkantha is a mountain peak of the Himalayas in Uttarakhand, India. Its elevation is 12,500 ft. The trip commences from Dehradun, from where you drive to the small, but pretty village of Sankri. The climb to the peak of Kedarkantha starts from a small village called as Sankri. There is a lake called Juda-ka-talab, the locals say that once upon a time Lord Shiva meditated at Kedarkantha. Its name implies so from the droplet fallen from Shiva’s hair to form this lake named as Juda-ka-talab. There are a total of 13 peaks of the Himalayan range visible from the Kedarkantha peak. The experience of the summit climb is very special and stays with you for a long time.

DAY 01: DEPARTURE FROM YOUR HOMETOWN.

DAY 02: EARLY MORNING ARRIVAL AT HARIDWAR, DRIVE TO SANKRI. (8 HRS DRIVE), SPEND REST OF THE TIME BY EXPLORING THE SCENIC HAMLET.

• Early Morning arrival at Haridwar, Drive to Sankri.
• Upon arrival, check-in the hotel; relax in beautiful mountains, which offer you some of the breath-taking views of nature.
• Explore the scenic hamlet to prepare for the trek.
• Overnight stay at Sankri.
• Meals: Lunch/Pack Lunch & Dinner.

DAY 03: SANKRI TO JUDA-KA-TALAB (TREK/3-4 HRS).

• Get ready in the morning for a moderate hike which, for the most part, goes through the forest.
• We will walk to Saur village and then climb up till we reach a small pond, Juda-ka-Talab, which is frozen during winters. As we continue climbing up, we will get fleeting glimpses of the snow-capped Himalayan peaks.
• 3 to 4 hour of hiking will take us to the meadows where we will camp overnight.
• Overnight stay in tents.
• Meals: Breakfast, Pack Lunch, Hi-tea & Dinner

DAY 04: JUDA-KA-TALAB TO KEDARKANTHA BASE CAMP (TREK/4-5 HRS).

• KedarKantha base becomes our destination for the day and we start for it posts breakfast.
• Today will be a busy day for the shutterbugs as the trek route is beautiful with open views on all side and vast snow fields decorated with green patches.
• Imagine a vast open, snow fields, the size of two football fields, a stream running by and misty mountains forming the background – this is the KedarKantha base where we will camp overnight in tents.
• Overnight stay in tents.
• Meals: Breakfast, Pack Lunch, Hi-tea & Dinner

DAY 05: KEDARKANTHA BASE CAMP TO KEDARKANTHA PEAK (12,500FT) AND BACK TO KEDARKANTHA BASE CAMP (TREK/7-8 HRS).

• Now imagine, if the Kedar Kantha base is that stunning, what will the view from the summit be like? The distance to the summit is not long but the climb is steep and depending upon the snow conditions then, we will pick the best route – and it will take about 2-3 hours.
• As for the view from the top – you will be able to see all the mountains of the Yumnotri, Gangotri and the Kinner Kailash range, plus the valleys.
• Next, we will descend the peak and trek all the way down to back to kedarkantha base campsite or an alternate campsite, depending on which route we choose.
• Overnight stay at Campsite
• Meals: Breakfast, Pack Lunch, Hi-tea & Dinner

DAY 06: KEDARKANTHA BASE CAMP TO SANKRI (TREK/4-5 HRS), THEN SANKRI TO HARIDWAR. DEPARTURE TO YOUR HOMETOWN.

• Time to descend back to the Sankri. After having breakfast, descend further more through rich dense pine forests and again witness sites of flowing streams. Moving further down the trail one can have splendid view of Harki dun valley from the ridge. The last few metres are filled with dense pine forests.
• Once you reach the sankri base camp, freshen up then depart for Haridwar with bunch of
unforgettable memories.
• Meals: Breakfast, Lunch or Pack Lunch

DAY 07: ARRIVAL AT YOUR HOMETOWN WITH THRILLING MEMORIES.
