The valleys of Badrinath, one of the Char Dhams, have been opened at Brahmamuhurta this morning along with law and order. On 17 May, the doors of Kedarnath were opened. The pilgrimage to Char Dham for the pilgrims has been postponed for the time being due to the Corona period. Even the residents of the local districts will not be able to visit the temples. However, lakhs of devotees across the country will still be able to visit Badrinath, Kedarnath, Yamunotri and Gangotri Dham online.
Badrinath Dham has been opened at Brahma Bela at 4.15 a.m along with the Vidhan Vidhi and the Veda Mantras. Due to the Corona transition, only the chief priests, Vedapathis and some employees of the Devasthanam Board were present on the occasion.
Badrinath is also called Badri Vishal and Lord Vishnu is worshiped there. Adi Shankaracharya established this dham. According to mythological beliefs, sage Kapil Muni, sage Gautama and sage Kashyapa did penance at this place and devotee Narada attained salvation at this place.
The place is about 528 km from the national capital Delhi and can be reached via Haridwar and Rishikesh. The distance between Kedarnath to Badrinath is 229 km.
Giving official information, the Uttarakhand government said that no one is allowed to visit Chardham as of now. Residents of local districts will also not be able to visit temples. Devotees of the four dhams have been asked to the Devasthanam Board for virtual darshan. Garhwal Commissioner and Uttarakhand Chardham Devasthanam Board’s Chief Executive Officer Ravinath Raman said that the website and other mediums are being updated to make the devotees visit through a virtual medium.
