There is nothing wrong in committing mistakes as they leads us to get the experience but again we should try to avoid some of the mistakes especially if those are concerned with your treks.
Why? Well simply because the consequences of those mistakes could be much more serious than you can imagine.so you should simply try to avoid them.
So first & foremost
Water bottle – Iski kya zarurat
![]() |
Generally beginner makes this type of mistake because they usually didn’t get importance of keeping their self-hydrated & as a result they tend to face the consequences in the form of dehydration, hypothermia or sun strokes.
So try to drink water at a regular interval rather than gulping it all at once. But again everyone’s water need is different & vary depending upon their body weight but in general sense one should aim to drink 1 liter for every two hours of hiking. |
Trekking Shoes- Sports shoes hai na
Trekking shoes are there for a reason right? And the reason is simple the sole of the shoes. The sole of the trekking shoes have the deep grooves in it therefore they provide the better grip on any surface whether it is sloppy land or snowy surface.
Whereas sole of running shoes or sports shoes are generally flatten in nature which is made for a flatter surface not for trekking or hiking purpose, plus trekking shoes comes with the benefit of ankle support which covers almost your entire ankle & help in avoiding ankle twist and other injuries while trekking but such ankle support is generally missing in sport or running shoes. |

So it is always advisable to opt for trekking shoes rather than sports or running one.
Sunscreen – Hume kuch nahi hota

You know what? The biggest myth about sunscreens that I have ever heard is that “I don’t need it because I am already darker in shades so it doesn’t matter! Like seriously? People really think that sunscreen is meant just to protect your skin from getting tanned.
I mean yes they are meant your skin from harmful UV rays as well as from getting tanned also but they are meant for other reasons also like did you know that inside of your outer skin or dead skin there a layer of protective cells called as melanin which protects your skin DNA from harmful UV rays. |
So if you don’t apply the sunscreen on your skin UV rays can damage the melanin and your skin DNA that can lead to skin cancer as well. Shocked right?
Now you know why sunscreen is always there in the must carry items of every hiker.
Backpacking-Agar aisa hua to
Well I think backpacking is the only aspect of hiking which is taken seriously by everyone. Beginner or experienced doesn’t matter they all take it seriously, I mean way too seriously! You know what’s the funny part about it? Well we all know that we are going on a trek we should carry as minimum as we can but shouldn’t skip must carry item. But do we really follow that rule while we’re packing our bags?
NO! And why? Because when we’re packing our bags we always keep in mind the “WHAT IF” scenarios. |
![]() |
“What if I’ll lose my shoes, what if there is everyone will plan to take pictures in red clothes, what if this happen, what if that happen, what if what if what if”. Thinking about those illogical what ifs we sometimes pack too many things that ultimately becomes a burden on ourselves only.
Medical Kit-Oops vo to bhool gaye
![]() |
Have you ever seen any hiker who doesn’t carry the first aid kit? No right? Why simple because first aid kit comes under the head of “must carry items” which can’t avoided at any cost. But do we carry it? I don’t think so. And why? May be because we tends think that it is the responsibility of Travel Company to be ready with backup for any medical emergency. Yes it is the responsibility of Travel Company as well but it’s our responsibility also. |
Let me explain with an example, it is responsibility of the automobile company to manufacture the well functioning vehicle but does that mean simply because the vehicle is well functioned you’ll not be prone to road accident? No right? And why? Because to avoid road accidents we have to take measures from our sides as well like wearing a helmet, driving at a slow speed etc.
So carrying a medical kit or first aid kit not the responsibility of your operator only but yours as well.
