Covid variant found in India is lethal and more contagious. This was stated by the World Health Organization (WHO) during the weekly update of the country’s coronavirus situation. It has also been said that nothing can be said for sure about the effectiveness of corona vaccine on these mutations. The B.1.617 variant was first found in India in October and has now been found in 44 countries. Its infection rate is very high and the effects of antibodies are very low on it.

According to the WHO, the B.1.17 variant was found in the UK and has caused havoc in India, with some decrease in recent weeks in cases of B.1.617 but now in the form of B.1.617.1 and B.1.617.2 Two more dangerous mutations have emerged. Initial analysis suggests that the B.1.617.1 and B.1.617.2 variants spread more rapidly. The organization has stated that there is still uncertainty about the effect on the vaccine and drugs on the B.1.617 variant. WHO has said that according to some studies, the effect of Pfizer and Moderna vaccine on the variants in India is minimal.

On the other hand, an American expert is of the opinion that the vaccines of Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson and Johnson are quite effective on the B.1.617 variant. News agency PII has directed Director of National Institute of Science Prof. “The data are coming and it is quite encouraging that the US-approved Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson and Johnson Vaccine are effective on the B.1.617 variant,” as quoted by Francis Collins. In April, 21 per cent of the cases of B.1.617.1 variants in India and 7 per cent of variants B.1.617.2 were reported.
