Overview

Jaipur is known as The Pink City and important tourist destination of Rajasthan. Jaipur was named after Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II who founded the city on November 18, 1727. The heritage of the city is well explained by its wonderful architecture. This tourist place in Rajasthan is like a time machine that ports one back to the glorious Rajput era.

Most haunted place in India, Bhangarh Fort. The 17th century fort is infamously known as the “most haunted place in India” located between Jaipur and Delhi. Visitors to the fort attest to ghostly sightings and unnatural experiences within its compounds, and the stories of its being haunted are so widespread and believed that villages have sprung up quite far from the fort itself. The ASI, or the Archeological Survey of India, has, on its part, forbidden the locals, as well as the visitors, from visiting the fort at night.

Ajmer is bustling city, located 130 km southwest of Jaipur and just 14 km from the pilgrimage town of Pushkar. The city of Ajmer gets its name from “Ajay Meru”, which can be roughly translated as “invincible hill”. Home to a number of tourist places, Ajmer can be a perfect representation of the diversity of the Indian culture and ethics, and displays a perfect blend of religion, community, culture, etc., coexisting and flourishing in harmony. Ajmer remains a popular tourist attraction, in addition to being a pilgrimage centre for both Hindus and Muslims.

Jodhpur, the second largest city in Rajasthan is popularly known as the Blue City. The name is clearly befitting as most of the architecture – forts, palaces, temples, havelis and even houses are built in vivid shades of blue. The mammoth, imposing fortress of Mehrangarh has a landscape dominating a rocky ridge with the eight gates leading out of the fortress.

No trip to Jaipur would be complete without a visit to the Amber Fort. It is beautifully maintained and preserved. The view of the surrounding valley and hills are amazing. Elephant rides from the parking lot into the fort are available for a small fee and well worth the price.
