Indian Railways is once again considering starting new trains amid the decreasing cases of corona infection in the country. In the coming few days, railways will start 100 trains. Railway Board Chairman and CEO Sunit Sharma said in a press conference on Tuesday that 889 trains are being run in the country even during the Corona transition. It is being considered to restart 100 trains in the coming four to five days.
Train services will be increased according to the need of the passengers and after the permission of the states. We have started many trains in May and June. This includes 197 trains in Central Railway, 154 in Western Railway, 38 trains in Northern Railway. At the same time, 26 clone trains are also being run.
Sharma further said, before the second wave of Corona, we were continuously increasing the train services. By the time of March-April 1,500 trains had reached. But due to the increasing infection of Corona and restrictions of the states, the trains had to be reduced. At present, maximum numbers of trains are being run for Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. We are also continuously reviewing short distance trains with flexi fare.
Responding to the question of private trains, the Railway Board Chairman said, “Work is being done in the direction of running private trains. The process of opening of tender will be done in the month of June. The process of running private trains has progressed.
He further said that, in January this year, tender has been done for 44 Vande Bharat trains and its production work has started. Production will start between December and March. But the routes have not been decided yet. On the question of Mumbai-Hyderabad bullet train project, Chairman Railway Board said, “This project is not under sanctioned yet.
